Benefits of Wheatgrass. Powder vs. Juice

The benefits of wheatgrass are extensive. Wheatgrass contains hundreds of nutrients, it is high in Vitamin A, Calcium and of course Chlorophyll. It also contains Vitamin C, Protein, Iron, Folic Acid, carotenoids, pigments, trace minerals, and phytonutrients. These nutrients have immense anti inflammatory, antioxidant and anti-bacterial properties.

While juicing is a fantastic way to get the nutrient from wheatgrass into your body, not everyone has the time or patience to grow and juice wheatgrass. A great alternative is to consume raw, organic wheatgrass powder. The raw powder holds the most bio-available nutrients next to basically grazing on the grass yourself. Raw means that the the product has not been heated above 118F, keeping all of its nutritional value intact. Consuming the wheatgrass in powder form (vs juice) offers your body fiber. The powder is also much less work and a more convenient way to consume this as a whole food, 1.5 Teaspoons is about the equivalent of eating 2-3 servings of spinach!

Eating your greens is necessary to maintaining proper digestion, and overall wellbeing in the body. The chlorophyll present in wheatgrass has many therapeutic applications. Research published in the Nature Immunology Journal indicates that immune cells essential for intestinal health could be controlled by leafy greens in your diet.  Eating greens protects the body from ‘bad’ bacteria in the intestine. Greens are also believed to play an important role in controlling food allergies, inflammatory diseases and obesity, and may even prevent the development of bowel cancers.
